Well I will not be going so unable to be of any help. I hate the lead up to this every year, I get bombarded by my husband. He has left leaflets lying around which went in re-cycling immediately. And just put a lot of pressure on me to go. He said half an hour ago on his way out to invite strangers to it. Did your mum invite you to memorial? I said no. Can I invite you then? You already did, I said. Can I invite you again? You can, but the answer is no I'm not going! Big sigh from him! Well as you say, it will soon be all over for another year.

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted
by steve2 inwell on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.
another great big anticlimax.
some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

I dont want to be added to their numbers for their purpose of boasting about how many attended. I dont believe they are right anymore and they dont do what Jesus commanded them to do regarding partaking of the bread and wine. I also dont want to give my family any ideas that I may return because I attended. I find them all very false and even patronising. I hate that they encorage anyone and everyone to go just to bump the numbers up. My invite from my husband went straight into the recycling bag. -

How did you feel when they eliminated the Con. Book Study?

by elderess inonly a few days ago i was walking around the house in a mindless wander thinking if i needed to seek professional help.
then i got the courage to seek the comfort of complete strangers on the internet and found a world of support here on this website.

Amazing story. So glad for you. I hope you have success with your children.
I too was terrified of telling my husband. He was not an elder, not even a ms, in fact he misses a lot of meetings and very rarely goes on the ministry. He stopped going for years before he was brought back by a 'kind' elder a couple of years ago. While he was away he decided to go to university and he got a degree. Yet I cant make him see anything I say to him. The last time we argued, the last thing I said to him was 'Overlapping Generations'!!!!!!!!!! He stormed out of the room and we didn't speak for a week!
We avoid the subject now, but he will leave magazines and books lying around and stick a memorial invitation in between the mail! Thankfully my children are all out, but it is so hard living with someone who does not believe the same as you.
Sending love to anyone else in the same situation as I am. I know there are many.

Today is Christmas, and guess what? Witnesses's were going house to house on my block, TODAY ON CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

my family, and i, were on our way to my wife's brothers house today, which is the families christmas tradition.
we open presents in the morning, and at around 10:30, we head over to my brother in laws for breakfast/brunch, with all the family.. so, as we loaded some presents up in the car, and we all jumped, and drove away, at the end of my block, jehovahs witnesses!

When I was in, in the 70s and 80s when I was a teenager we were encouraged to go out on Christmas Day because as someone said people are in. I did it a couple of times but hated doing it, although I found people were really nice and some invited us in and offered us a sherry to warm us up! 😀 -

I didn't know it at the time because I was just a child. But I saw and met The Beatles many times before they became famous in my grandfather's house where they would come to play. My grandfather had a drum kit in his living room and many groups would come to his little house to hang out. My grandfather was the manager of another group in my hometown (can't say his name would give too much away). I wish I been more aware at the time of what was happening but I was too young. Exciting times. -

It is so sad that the R&F have no idea of what is going on behind the scenes. What is wrong with all the elders who get these directives. Why are there not more opening their eyes? They must see that this secrecy is wrong. I do hope the day comes soon when all of this is publicised. I fear though that it won't be in my lifetime. Many of you younger ones may live to see it. -

I was about 4 when my dad decided to join so felt like a born-in. Don't really remember a time when we weren't associated with the witnesses.
